Material Segregation
Securing reliable values with RJC-CoC certified recycled precious metals
This certificate translates into a transfer document that automatically accompanies each delivery of CoC recycled products. It is available for CoC recycled Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Palladium, and can only be issued when linked to physical CoC metal units refined by authorized sites within Umicore Business Unit JIM.
The Responsible Jewellery Council, London, (RJC) is the world’s leading sustainability standard setting organisation for the jewelry and watch industry. JIM’s headquarters Agosi and sites have been granted the CoC Certificate for a conflict-free supply chain of precious metals resulting in recycled CoC-products for the pm consuming industries.
Given the restrictions set for eligible recycled materials, as defined by the RJC standard, the RJC-CoC certificate provides the best possible transparency for recycled precious metals we can offer.
It requires a strict segregation process for the entire recycling and production set up for CoC products. Within these isolated streams, eligible CoC materials from different sources are mixed as they share the same defined standard.
The RJC-CoC certificate is represented by the CoC-transfer document that is delivered with every CoC-product offered by Umicore JIM, using the RJC definition of recycled material.
KPMG has been appointed to audit and certify JIM’s RJC-CoC compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions
The gold and/or PGM content in a CoC-product is part of a conflict-free supply chain from recycling and thus meets high ethical and international standards. For silver, this applies to the product "Fine Silver Granules CoC".
This is certified with the CoC Transfer Document, which is automatically issued when a CoC order is delivered.
Certified recycled CoC-products substantially contribute to the manufacturer's production of products from recycled sources. The CoC Transfer Document, however, is only valid for receipt by the direct beneficiary buyer of the recycled CoC-products from Umicore Jewelry & Industrial Metals, as referred to in the shipment or pick-up of the metal sales transaction. The CoC Transfer Document cannot automatically be further transferred downstream.
To produce CoC-compliant recycled products themselves, manufacturers must get RJC-CoP and -CoC certified. Manufacturers can then in turn issue their CoC Transfer document to the buyer of their products. As a result, the conflict-free supply chain for recycled material and products has once again become one station longer.
